The founder of Lamba's family was General Gurmukh Singh Lamba.,one of the most famous of Maharaja Ranjit Singh General's.He haild from from small township called Khewa situated on the right bank of the Jhuum .In the summer 1780,Mahan Singh Sukarchaia was passing through the town,he meet Gurmukh Singh as eight year old boy with bright eyes and impressive personality .He took the boy long with him,he and Ranjit Singh both were brought upand trained togather.
2. Sardar Gurmukh Singh was with the Maharaja Ranjit Singh at capture of Lahore in 1799. He fought at Kassur and capture famous fort of Morada( Kasur) from the grand son of Ahmed Shah Abdali in 1807, Where he was wounded by thrust of spear,he was awarded Jagir of Kasur illaqua Ruppees eighty two thousand per annum . He fought at Jhang and Sailkotand against Gurkhas in 1809.The next year,he presented him self at the siege of Multan,and aided in reduction of Sahiwal and Khusab.When Nahar Singh Chamiari wala died in 1806 ,his troops placed under command Sardar General Gurmukh Singh Lamba At one time the Jaigir of the Sardar was Three Lac and half. He commanded Divisionin during the the reduction of Attak Fort in 1813 .When Afghans and the Kabul Wazir were driven from the Punjab,he fought in Kashmire and all along Northan -Eastern borders.For his services he was handsomely rewarded by the Jaigirs of Pindilala,,Siashiwal and after wards Dinga and Roto,fifteen thousand for each

3 The enmity of Jammu Raja's Main brother, Dhain and Gulab Singh with the general Gurmukh Singh who defeated their father Main Kishora Singh,destroyed his power and wealth,by holding position of influnce and by opposing him at all ocassions
4.In 1832,when sardar general Tara Singh.on way to Banur was defeated by Dilasa Khan,the coward general ran away leaving predigious guns in the hands of enemy. Sardar Genera Gurmukh Singh ,on his own being at head of troops charged the Dilasha Khan and recaptured the guns
Sardar captured the famous fort of Rothas frm the Ghakhar Chief Noor Khan,father of Fazil Dad Khan in 1825,but thefort was handed over to Sardar Mohar Singh Lamba on the recommendation of Dogra raja's,due to eminty with the sardar. But When Mohar Singh moved to Banaras against the wishes of Mahara, the fort along his force,a condigent of 7000 horses reverted to the sardar.It is said the sardar was of a medium sature,but due to long contigent of force popularly called by the Maharaja as Lammba Sardar, where few historian feels that
as the Mahor Singh contigent was placed under his command and Mohar Singh being exteremly tall Sardar ,General Gurmukh Singh took this name through him.
5.Sir Lepel Griffen writes in his book "The detail account of the military Services of the sardar,be the history of all the wars of the sikh empire"The sardar potrait painting is displayed at "Central Museum Lahore" at serial D-40 with caption.Caption read as....
"His popularity,how ever made him incur the enmity of the Dogra's Rajaj Dhain and Gulab Singh.Who by their influnce over Ranjit Singh reduced sardar Power and wealth. On death bed Ranjit Singh is said to have realised the wrong done to his faithful follower and commissioned his son Raja Kharak Singh to restore the sardar power and wealth."
